TEMECULA, California (May 20, 2019) — For the second time, the Kurt Caselli Foundation partnered up with Anya & Ashmore who are the creators of Babes in the Dirt, a women’s only campout in Gorman, California. Over 600 women bought tickets to Babes in the Dirt 5 making the event sold out. We are thankful for the community that these two women have built and their growing emphasis on safety. Their mission is focused on enhancing each attendee's skill set while connecting with other off-road enthusiasts who share the same passion. The event was held at Quail Canyon MX on April 26-28, 2019. 61% of the attendees are either a first-timer or recently started riding in the last 1-3 years. We feel this is an important space to be involved in, talk safety & rider education during the riders meetings and encourage more women to be smart and have fun on two wheels! At the 5th annual event, participants were more prepared than ever — wearing better, more protective gear, and riding newer, more reliable bikes. The Kurt Caselli Foundation is happy to support their initiative and include this amazing event on our list of 2019 safety projects!

For the 2019 event, The Kurt Caselli Foundation supplied high-visibility safety vests for the staff, caution flags for the track crew, emergency contact stickers for attendees, and helped secure an ambulance to be on-site throughout the weekend event. Since 2013 The Kurt Caselli Foundation has raised over $1,000,000 to Protect and Support The Lives Of Off-Road Riders and has spent over $600,000 on Safety Initiatives and Scholarships. The Foundation has an established safety budget for 2019 in 3 major areas: Race Course & Safety, Rider Safety during events and Injury Management, and Scholarships. Projects include: hosting 4 “Riders 1st Responders” CPR & First Aid certification events, donating the KCF Safety Kawasaki Mule with medical service devices to the GNCC series, supplying major off-road race series with hundreds of KCF Caution Flags & high visibility KCF Safety Bibs for youth riders, KCF Race Course Safety Advisor pre-running the AMA National Hare & Hound Championship Series courses as well as developing an updated trail marking system now utilized by District 37, and much more.
