The Kurt Caselli Foundation Announces the Fall 2020 Scholarship Recipients
Kurt Caselli Scholarship recipients will receive $2,500 toward their higher education
MURRIETA, California (June 17, 2020) — The Kurt Caselli Foundation is proud to announce the recipients of the Fall 2020 Kurt Caselli Scholarship. For the 5th-consecutive year, a select number of racers will be awarded a $2,500 scholarship to support their respective college or trade school education. The funds are applied directly to their tuition at the accredited school. Scholars are selected after the Board of Directors reviewed all current applications, rider resumes, and watched their introduction videos. Applicants should embody perseverance, integrity, generosity, commitment, humility, and professionalism--all the same character traits that Kurt Caselli exemplified on and off the motorcycle. The Foundation has a three-part mission that encompasses safety precautions for riders before, during, and after a racing career. Over the past five years, the Foundation has awarded over $50,000 in scholarship funds to 20 current or former racers as part of our Mission of Protecting and Supporting the Lives of Off-Road Riders . The Foundation selected five racers to be awarded the scholarship, below are the Fall 2020 recipients sorted in alphabetical order by last name:
Ben Fricks is attending Georgia Southern University and is majoring in Construction Management. Ben is an amateur racer and has raced in the GNCC series, and Southern Roots Race Series (SORC) where he was the 2019 SORCS 200/250c Champion.
Justin Jones will be in his junior year of college at the University of California Riverside and is pursuing a combined bachelor's (BS) and master's (MS) degree in Mechanical Engineering. Justin is a Professional racer for team Monster Energy SLR American Honda, who has raced in many series, including SCORE, WORCS, SRA, and others.
Mason Klein graduated from high school this year and will attend College of the Canyons in California, majoring in Computer Science. Mason is a Pro racer and has raced National Hare & Hound Series (NHHA), WORCS, Best In The Desert (BITD), and other series.
Santana Michel graduated from high school this year and will attend Southern Utah University, majoring in Nursing. Santana is an amateur racer and has raced the WORCS series and the Searchlight Grand Prix.
Kel Mussetter graduated from high school this year and will attend Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, majoring in Biochemistry. Kel is an amateur racer who has raced A Day In The Dirt and ARX (American Retrocross) and works part-time with Dirt Bike Academy to teach riding basics to beginner and novice riders.
The Kurt Caselli Scholarship enables current or former off-road racers to further their education and reach career goals for themselves and their families. Each year, The Kurt Caselli Foundation seeks eligible racers to help ease the cost of their educational journey. The application form is now open again, and we are accepting Spring 2021 Scholarship applications. That means if you are a current or former racer* who has been accepted or enrolled at an institute of higher education for Spring 2021, you are eligible to apply for a $2,500 credit toward the cost of your education. Helping to fund safety projects and scholarships, The Kurt Caselli Foundation partners with many off-road companies as well as individuals within the off-road community.
